Photography Instruction

Award-winning certified instructor Howard Sykes provides personalized instruction on photographic and videographic topics related to cameras and drones.

Instructional topics include camera functions (what does each button do); photographic theory (how to set ISO, shutter speed, f-stop, depth-of-field and their interactions and trade-offs); flash (on-camera, off-camera and studio strobes); various post-processing options (Lightroom, Photoshop,...); as well as types of photography (still life, stop action, panoramas, 360 spherical photography, time lapse, video ...) and aerial drone photography.

For drones we cover all topics tested in FAA drone exams, including night flying, plus practical hands-on flying experience with multiple different drones. For students considering the purchase of a drone, we can help you understand the tradeoffs of various models so that your initial purchase provides the most bang for the buck in your particular environment. Our Drone Recommendation page give some rules of thumb of which drone is best suited for a given environment.

Our instruction is available to individuals, groups, photography/drone clubs and through community colleges.
